Opened in November 1995, Marguerites has since established itself as the North Coast’s finest seafood restaurant. Originally built in the fifties and formerly owned by a succession of expatriates including a US senator, the restaurant has been transformed by Jamaican co-owners Brian Jardim and Ian Dear into an elegant and sophisticated water’s edge bistro, specializing in fresh, creatively prepared seafood.
Well placed along Montego Bay’s liveliest thoroughfare Gloucester Avenue, (popularly known as “The Hip Strip”), the revamped Marguerites offers a seaside deck for romantic al fresco dining and an elegantly appointed interior dining room, decorated with the work of local artists and complete with an open flambé kitchen.
There is also an intimate, wood panelled bar in which guests may enjoy cocktails, Caribbean cigars and a wide selection of fine wines from all over the world. The bar adjoins a secluded patio, perfect for private dinners “a deux”. Whichever location diners or drinkers may prefer, a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance prevails.
The cuisine, described as "Creative Caribbean seafood" is considered amongst the island's best. Constantly being tweaked in sync with diner's tastes and availability of the freshest marine specialties, the menu celebrates the abundance of local seafood, including shrimp, scallops, fish, calamari and lobster. Pasta and vegetarian entrees complement Marguerites' signature dishes, Treasure Chest, Tijuana Shrimp and Sesame Seared Yellow fin Tuna. Meat-lovers aren't forgotten, however, and can enjoy a large selection of steaks.
Opened to rave reviews by local Montegonians, Marguerites has become the fashionable choice for visiting international celebrities like Ralph Lauren, Spike Lee, Uma Thurman, Tiger Woods, Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte – who have all praised the attentive service and inventive menu.
Open daily for dinner between 6:00 pm and 10:30 pm, Marguerites offers, on request, a complimentary shuttle service for hotel guests in the Montego Bay area, east to Trelawny Beach and westwards to Round Hill.
Most major credit cards are accepted and reservations are recommended.
